Chapter 1104 The Vanishing Rocket
Chapter 1104 The Vanishing Rocket
Just as Li Mo'er put the rocket into her spatial storage and placed it on the barren mountain to observe whether it would explode.
The rocket testing sites were in an uproar. The urgent announcements over the loudspeakers read: "Taiyuan optical tracking anomaly, radar tracking lost target."
"Wenchang optical tracking is abnormal, and radar tracking has lost its target."
The report from the Jiuquan rocket launch site surprised other monitoring points even more: "The Jiuquan optical tracking was abnormal. After the radar detected an aircraft flying towards the rocket, the radar signal disappeared, the aircraft disappeared, and the rocket disappeared."
The rocket's chief designer stared at the empty screen, nearly pulling out all his thinning hair: "Check it quickly! Where did the rocket go? This isn't the beach, how could it have disappeared?"
The deputy chief designer below said, "The thrusters haven't separated, so it's impossible for it to have entered space. It can only freefall and fall to the ground. That's basic common sense. Send people out to search. Also, quickly find out where that plane belongs."
Just then, a voice came from behind them: "No need to investigate, I know!"
Both engineers turned around sharply and saw an old man in his fifties or sixties.
The deputy chief designer was dumbfounded and asked, "Who are you? How did you get in?" The chief designer looked at Old Man Wei and felt that he looked familiar. After trying hard to recall, he asked uncertainly, "Are you Director Wei?"
Old Wei nodded and said, "That's right, it's me." The chief designer's eyes lit up, he stood up straight and saluted Old Wei, then asked somewhat uncertainly, "Why are you here? Also, the disappearance of the rocket and the disappearing plane, are they related to the National Security Bureau?"
Old Man Wei nodded and pulled the two of them aside to a secluded corner, saying, "Engineer Tan, it's been over ten years since we last met. Yes, it was my people who did it. Don't worry, I'm waiting for the results too."
That Engineer Tan clearly knew about some of the little-known abilities of Old Man Wei in the National Security Bureau.
He asked excitedly in a low voice, "So, the rocket that failed to launch might come back intact? If that's the case, that would be wonderful! This rocket represents so much of our effort and hard work. If it had exploded, we would have felt guilty and uneasy for the rest of our lives, and it would have wasted so much money. It's so great that you could come!"
Old Wei waved his hand and said, "Alright, let's wait for the result together! I also hope she can bring the rocket back intact!"
Time ticked by, and the two rocket project engineers and Old Man Wei were all going through agonizing hours.
The entire base was in chaos. Some people were making phone calls to inquire if there had been any discoveries nearby, while others ran out to listen for any sounds from the vicinity.
After observing for an hour, Li Mo'er, inside the space, was finally certain that the rocket was safe. So she piloted the fighter jet back to the Jiuquan rocket launch base.
A man in his thirties wearing glasses sat in front of the radar screen at the Jiuquan Rocket Launch Center, his eyes fixed on the screen.
Suddenly he stood up and shouted, "The plane has appeared! Engineer Tan, Engineer Li, the plane has appeared again!"
The two rocket launch engineers immediately jogged to the screen and stared intently at the large screen, where they saw an aircraft rapidly approaching the rocket launch base.
Their hearts were pounding, and they hoped for a miracle.
Just as the plane approached the rocket launch site, Li Mo'er moved her mind, and a rocket left the space and returned to the launch tower, just as it had been before the rocket was launched.
Suddenly, someone shouted in front of the giant screen at the rocket launch site: "Look at the launch tower! The rocket is back! It's really back! My God, this is a miracle!"
Everyone cheered excitedly. Although the rocket launch failed, the rocket was saved. If the cause of the failure was found, it could be launched again.
The two rocket project engineers hugged each other excitedly. Their emotions had been like a rollercoaster ride, going up and down, truly testing their heart's endurance.
