Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 1066 - 1065: Is This Really Normal?

Chapter 1066 - 1065: Is This Really Normal?

The three of them were eating and chatting, the atmosphere seemed quite nice, at least on the surface. Chu Ge appeared to be enjoying the conversation, but secretly, he was attempting to hypnotize Chu Chengrui.Chu Ge came here to find an opportunity to test Chu Chengrui, to see what kind of person he really was. If he indeed had issues, he wanted him to reveal those secrets hidden beneath his benevolent exterior to Chu Shiyao while in a hypnotized state.

Given that there were only the three of them here, Chu Ge certainly wouldn't miss such a good opportunity.

However, Chu Ge initially thought it was the perfect timing and setting, an ideal chance to hypnotize Chu Chengrui without him realizing it. But in reality, despite his efforts, he just couldn't establish a mental connection with Chu Chengrui.

This result shocked Chu Ge. To be on the safe side, he had advanced his Hypnosis Technique to the second level before coming here, yet it had no effect on Chu Chengrui?

Until the meal was finished, Chu Ge's hypnosis hadn't affected Chu Chengrui in any way. If he hadn't just successfully hypnotized that chef named Li Zhong, Chu Ge would definitely suspect there was something wrong with his technique.

After the meal, Chu Chengrui put down his chopsticks, looking quite satisfied, and smiled at Chu Ge: "Xiao Chu, you were indeed too modest before. Your cooking skills are definitely much stronger than many famous chefs I've hired from around the world."

Though filled with suspicion, Chu Ge showed no trace of it on his face and said with a smile, "You're too kind, Mr. Chu."

"Not an exaggeration, not at all. I can't even remember the last time I ate so much." Chu Chengrui wiped the slight sweat from his forehead and stood up from the table with a pleased smile towards Chu Ge.

Just after Chu Chengrui straightened his waist, his body suddenly wavered slightly, and he reached out to steady himself on the table.

Seeing this, Chu Shiyao hurriedly reached out to support Chu Chengrui and asked concernedly, "Old Chu, what's wrong? Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, I'm fine." Chu Chengrui waved his hand, "I guess it's just old age catching up, and I've been sitting for quite a while today. Haha, it really doesn't pay to fight against old age."

Just as Chu Shiyao was about to say something, Chu Chengrui added, "Yaoyao, it's rare for Chu Ge to visit. Why don't you accompany him for a stroll? I'm a bit tired and would like to rest in my room for a bit."

Chu Shiyao replied, "Well... Should I help you back to your room?"

"There's no need for that. I'm old but not to the point where I can't walk, right? Besides, you two haven't seen each other for a while; I'm sure you have a lot to talk about. I won't take up the time of you young folks, alright, go on."

Hearing Chu Chengrui say this, Chu Shiyao showed a hint of embarrassment, but she said nothing more and just scratched her head.

"Xiao Chu, you came to visit me today, and I should have been the one to entertain you. Instead, I let you toil through half of the morning. How about this, you spend time with Yaoyao now, and in the evening, I'll have my chef prepare a good meal for you."

Chu Shiyao was already looking quite awkward, and hearing the words "spend time", her baby face showed even more signs of internal conflict.

"Oh my, Old Chu, what are you talking about? What can we possibly do? Seriously…"

Muttering wordlessly, Chu Shiyao held onto Chu Ge's hand and walked towards the dining-room door, fearing that if she stayed there longer, Chu Chengrui would say something even more awkward.

Chu Ge showed Chu Chengrui a polite smile, then was half-dragged, half-pulled out of the dining room by Chu Shiyao.

As Chu Ge and Chu Shiyao's backs disappeared from Chu Chengrui's sight, the benevolent smile on his face slowly faded. He pinched his slightly furrowed brows, and another drop of sweat rolled off his forehead. In his aged eyes, there was a hint of hesitation and uncertainty.

After leaving the dining room, Chu Ge first let Chu Shiyao show him around a bit, and then they came to Chu Shiyao's room located on the second floor of the villa.

Chu Shiyao's room was very large, just as she said, it's practically a gym, with all kinds of high-end fitness equipment that cover every exercise need from head to toe.

After looking around Chu Shiyao's room, Chu Ge didn't notice anything odd. Confirming no surveillance or listening devices were present, he discreetly posed some questions to Chu Shiyao, whose responses didn't reveal any suspicious points.

Of course, the fact that he didn't discover an issue doesn't mean there isn't one, such as his hypnosis being ineffective on Chu Chengrui, which is a significant problem.

Filled with doubt, Chu Ge leaned back against a khaki-colored single fabric sofa, pinched his brow, and turned his gaze toward Chu Shiyao, who was peeling an apple with a fruit knife.

"Yaoyao, actually, this time I came because I have something to tell you, but... until now, I haven't decided whether I should share it with you."

Upon hearing Chu Ge's words, Chu Shiyao's hand paused, and the long, continuous ring of apple peel suddenly broke.

"Oh, we're so close. Just say whatever you want to say." Chu Shiyao laughed heartily, diverting her gaze from the apple in her hand, then lowered her head again to continue peeling the apple.

Though Chu Shiyao masked it well, just as their eyes met, Chu Ge caught a hint of nervousness and panic in her eyes. It seems... Chu Shiyao might have misunderstood something.

But it's understandable for her to misunderstand. After all, they were alone in the room, and under such circumstances, his previous words did indeed easily lead to thoughts about matters between men and women.

"I'll be direct then. I suspect you're not safe here."

Chu Shiyao's hand paused again, and a few seconds passed before she looked up, her doll-face showing a complex expression, seemingly relieved yet also somewhat disappointed.

"Brother Chu, what do you mean by this?"

"It's exactly what it sounds like. Recently, I've heard some things about your father."

Having broached the topic, Chu Ge decided to continue, leaving it to Chu Shiyao to decide whether to believe him or not.

Chu Ge recounted some things he deemed appropriate to tell Chu Shiyao, and she listened quietly. In all the time Chu Ge knew her, this was his first time seeing her so serene.

Once Chu Ge finished speaking, a few seconds passed before Chu Shiyao smiled and said, "Brother Chu, aren't these things just hearsay? You don't have any evidence to prove they're true, nor can you prove that Old Chu is a bad person, right?"

Hearing Chu Shiyao say this, Chu Ge realized she hadn't taken his words seriously, and he sighed lightly.

"Yaoyao, I really don't have evidence, but as the saying goes, where there's smoke, there's fire..."

"Brother Chu, the smoke could be just fabricated rumors, or baseless claims. I'd rather trust my own feelings over the gossip you've heard."

Before Chu Ge could finish, Chu Shiyao interrupted him, smiled slightly, lowered her head, sliced the apple a few more times, and then handed it to Chu Ge.

"It seems Chu Chengrui is indeed nice to you, but haven't you forgotten the words your father left you? Don't you think your father's death held many suspicious elements?"

Chu Ge didn't take the apple, furrowing his brow and gazing straight into Chu Shiyao's eyes, although understanding that offering him the apple was her way of ending the topic.

"Brother Chu, let's change the subject. I remember you were exercising even when you were hospitalized. Want to try the equipment here?"

Chu Shiyao placed the apple and the fruit knife onto the small coffee table in front of her, stood up from the sofa, smiled at Chu Ge, and walked towards a piece of gym equipment with her back to him.

Watching her back, Chu Ge frowned, knowing that although he anticipated she'd resist his warnings, he hadn't expected her resistance to be this strong.

"Yaoyao, don't you find it strange? Like you said yourself before, you're practically like a lab rat under full surveillance. I've seen enough so-called 'upper-class' people, and even though they're concerned about health, they don't go to such extremes."

"Brother Chu..." Chu Shiyao didn't turn around, saying these three words with her back to Chu Ge.

"Yaoyao, you used to be a nurse in a special care ward. You know monitoring even for severely ill patients isn't as extensive as this, right? But your health is fine; do you need such measures?"

This time, it was Chu Ge who interrupted Chu Shiyao.

"Brother Chu..." Chu Shiyao repeated these words, once again not given the chance to continue by Chu Ge.

"Actually, even if you don't say it, I know. Being cautious about you overeating, water intake, or falling isn't just about care; it means controlling every bite, sip, and step. To be blunt, I bet even when your period comes, someone analyzes the milliliters each time."

"If I'm not mistaken, your health checkup schedule increased today because I cooked you lunch, right? You just freely enjoyed a meal, and suddenly, the following day's and even the next ten days' checkups and exercise regimens adjust accordingly, correct?"

"Yaoyao, think about it. Does this seem normal?"
