Chapter 264 Encounters with the Ice Chamber
Chapter 264 Encounters with the Ice Chamber
Lin Shushu was violently impacted by two forces, and her entire body plummeted uncontrollably towards the crack at the bottom of the icy abyss. During this rapid descent, the wind whistled past her ears, and Lin Shushu was momentarily disoriented, but she quickly regained her composure.
Since arriving on the Azure Cloud Continent, she has rarely entered her spatial dimension and has almost forgotten that she possesses a life-saving artifact.
Thinking of her trump card, she even had the mind to imagine what she would encounter next. Circulating all her spiritual energy, Lin Shushu tried to stabilize herself. In an instant, her body shone brightly, and her spiritual energy acted like a pair of invisible hands, attempting to slow her descent.
However, the turbulent airflow within the crack constantly battered her spiritual energy shield, making her efforts exceptionally difficult.
Left with no other choice, she had to give up, while trying to open her eyes wide to see her surroundings. But all around was pitch black; the thick darkness enveloped her like ink, and she couldn't see anything. She could only rely on her spiritual senses to avoid some sharp icicles.
After what seemed like an eternity, just as her patience was nearly exhausted, her feet finally touched a relatively flat surface. She staggered, nearly falling, and barely managed to regain her balance.
As she carefully observed her surroundings, Mo Ze's familiar voice came from above her head. "Shushu, are you alright?" His voice was filled with endless worry.
Lin Shushu hurriedly replied, "Mo Ze, I'm fine. Why did you come down here too?" Although it was a question, she already had the answer in her heart: Mo Ze would not stand by and watch her fall into danger alone.
Soon, Mo Ze stood on flat ground. Relying on his familiarity with Lin Shushu's scent, he ran towards her as soon as he was steady and hugged her tightly.
Lin Shushu felt his chest heaving violently and patted his back reassuringly, "I'll be fine. Don't be so impulsive in the future."
"I know you'll be alright, but I can't rest easy until I see it with my own eyes," Mo Ze said sincerely, tightening his embrace around the person in his arms.
Lin Shushu smiled. It was actually quite nice to have someone so concerned about her. She did have some romantic feelings, but so what? Her pursuit had never been about becoming a god or attaining enlightenment.
They embraced quietly for a while, then parted. They both understood their situation and that important things awaited them.
Lin Shushu condensed her spiritual power into a bright sphere of light, and the soft light instantly dispelled the endless darkness around her, illuminating a small area.
By the light, she and Mo Ze found themselves standing in a narrow passage. The walls of the passage were made of smooth ice rock, which shimmered with a cold luster under the illumination of the spiritual energy orb.
The two exchanged a glance, seeing determination and curiosity in each other's eyes, and then cautiously proceeded along the passage. The passage wound its way through the tunnel, seemingly without end, and their footsteps echoed clearly in the silent passage.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, a wide-open space appeared ahead—an ice chamber. The floor of the ice chamber was very flat, and in the corner were some ice sculptures of tables and chairs. Although the surfaces were covered with a thin layer of frost, traces of human habitation were still visible.
A simple tea set lay on the table, still intact despite the passage of time. Strange patterns were carved on the wall, their meaning unclear at first glance.
"This must be the cave dwelling of some senior," Mo Ze speculated after careful observation.
Lin Shushu nodded in agreement, "Judging from these traces, this senior lived here for quite some time. Perhaps there are some clues hidden here about this icy abyss, or even the Brahma Bowl."
Lin Shushu now possessed five fragments of the Brahma Bowl, making the bowl essentially complete. While above the Ice Abyss, she could still sense the Brahma Bowl's presence, but here, that connection had broken, and the bowl remained unresponsive.
Another point worth pondering is that, although they knew the location during the search for the fragments, the order in which they searched was based on the clues from the first fragment of the Brahma bowl. In other words, this last fragment might be the most crucial one.
The two searched the ice chamber thoroughly, leaving no corner unchecked, and time slipped away in their tense search. Just when they were almost discouraged, Lin Shushu suddenly noticed that the lines of a pattern on the wall were somewhat similar to the patterns on the Brahma bowl.
Following the pattern, she groped around in the corner of the ice room and finally found a slightly protruding piece of ice rock.
Lin Shushu tried pressing down hard, and the ice rock slowly sank. Immediately afterwards, a slight tremor came from the ground, and a hidden door slowly opened, releasing an ancient and mysterious aura.
The two exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with surprise and wariness, and cautiously stepped into the passage behind the hidden door. The passage was very narrow, only wide enough for one person to pass through at a time. The walls were inlaid with stones that emitted a faint light, barely illuminating the way forward.
After walking along the passage for a while, they arrived at a smaller ice chamber. In the center of the ice chamber stood an ice sculpture depicting an old man with a peaceful face and closed eyes, as if he were asleep. The base of the ice sculpture was covered with densely packed runes.
Lin Shushu squatted down, concentrating intently on deciphering the runes on the ice sculpture base. As the meaning of the runes gradually became clearer, her expression grew increasingly solemn.
"Mo Ze, to obtain the last fragment of the Brahma Bowl, you must pass this senior's test." She turned to look at Mo Ze and pointed to the ice sculpture in front of her.
Upon hearing this, Mo Ze's gaze fell on the old man in the ice sculpture, as if trying to discern the nature of the trial from his calm expression. "Since this is the only way for us to obtain the fragment, whatever the trial may be, we must give it our all."
As soon as he finished speaking, a soft blue light emanated from the old man in the ice sculpture, growing stronger and stronger until it illuminated the entire ice chamber. Then, the ice on the surface of the sculpture began to peel away, making a crisp "crackling" sound.
As the ice layers crumbled, the old man in the ice sculpture slowly opened his eyes, his gaze gleaming with a wise and mysterious light.
"Youngsters, now that you've arrived, you must be here for the last fragment of the Brahma Bowl." The old man's voice, deep and resonant, seemed to come from ancient times, echoing in the ice chamber.
Lin Shushu and Mo Ze quickly clasped their hands in a respectful bow. "Senior, the continent is in imminent danger. The demon race is rampant, and the seal on the ancient demon god is weakening. We need to find the fragments of the Brahma Bowl to reseal the demon god. We humbly request your assistance, Senior." Lin Shushu's words were earnest, her eyes filled with anticipation.
The old man with the ice sculpture nodded slightly. "Sealing the demon god and saving the continent is a righteous act. But this last fragment of the Brahma Bowl is of great importance, and I need to test you. Only those who pass the test will be qualified to receive it."
"What kind of test?" Lin Shushu and Mo Ze asked at the same time.
The old man smiled faintly and remained silent. Just then, many complex patterns suddenly appeared on the floor of the ice chamber. These patterns shimmered with light, intertwined, and formed a huge magic array. The magic array shone brightly, enveloping Lin Shushu and Mo Ze within it.
Then, the old man's somewhat ethereal voice came from inside the ice chamber: "Whether you can pass the test or not depends on yourselves!"
