Chapter 17 Shooting Training
Chapter 17 Shooting Training
Entering the domed building of the shooting range, I was greeted by a familiar robotic voice, confirming my identity as Morse Scott. Holding my smartwatch, I walked towards one of the ten doors leading to the training room.
Upon entering the training room, I found myself standing in the center of a circular space with shooting ranges. The room was simple, but its enchanting shooting range added an intriguing twist to the typical shooting experience.
I held up my smartwatch and initialized the target. "Five," I said firmly.
"Select the training difficulty level."
"You can choose from stage one to stage nine."
Considering my current strength and the potential of my abilities, I decided to challenge myself and chose the first stage. It doesn't matter what my current strength is, or how much my abilities will help me. After all, I'm still just a beginner.
“Phase one,” I muttered to myself.
In an instant, blue objects emerged from the ground and formed a circle around me. They were larger than ordinary moles and looked more like monsters.
I prepared my bow and arrow, nocked the arrow, and focused my attention on the insect. I tensed my muscles, repeated her previous posture, and aimed at the mole.
The mole moved at an incredibly fast speed, but to me it appeared quite slow. Thanks to my ability [Perception], I could easily see its movements, as I could determine its direction simply from its body language.
"Let me test the strength of a regular arrow first."
With that in mind, he fired an ordinary arrow that had not been enhanced in any way.
'Whoosh' 'Bang'
Since this was the first stage, the arrow easily hit its target. However, because my skills still need improvement, I didn't kill it. The arrow entered the mole's leg.
'whoosh'
I fired another arrow, and this time I successfully hit its chest, making it disappear.
"I feel like I'm getting the hang of it," I thought to myself. The first arrow missed; I felt like I hadn't held the bow properly. But the second arrow, my gut told me I could hit it.
The moles weren't frightened by the sight; instead, they approached me at an incredible speed. Although they were created purely of magic, they still gave me a somewhat disgusting feeling.
So I kept shooting arrows until there were no more moles on the ground.
"Hmph...not bad." I thought to myself. Although this was my first time using a bow and arrow, and my posture wasn't great, thanks to my unique vision, successfully conquering the first stage wasn't difficult for me.
"Ding! First phase of shooting training complete. New record: 1 minute 32 seconds."
Looking at the panel in front of me, I glanced at the bow. "Let's try the second stage," I thought, increasing the difficulty as I did so.
"Select the training difficulty level."
"Phase Two".
This time, five more moles appeared in front of me, but this time they exuded an even stronger aura.
I focused my attention and infused the arrow with magic through my [Moon] attribute. When I released it, it shone with a silvery-blue light, streaking through the air with greater speed and accuracy.
'whoosh'
The enhanced arrow pierced through a charging mole, causing it to vanish in a silvery-blue light.
The remaining moles continued to charge, and I continued to fire. Because the arrows were infused with lunar magic, each shot was precise and powerful. With each hit, I could feel the lunar magic flowing through my body, guiding my aim and enhancing my senses.
This strange feeling is something I don't experience when using a dagger, as if the moon's magic itself is guiding me on how to enhance my arrows and how to channel my magic into them.
Although the moles' abilities had been enhanced, they still couldn't match the boost from my newly discovered shooting skills and my own traits. Soon, the last mole disappeared, and the training room fell silent.
"Ding! Second phase of shooting training is over. New record: 1 minute 10 seconds."
Looking at the panel, I was satisfied with my progress. My time had significantly improved compared to the first stage, all thanks to [Moon].
"Ding! Second phase of shooting training complete. New record."
"Ding! Second phase of shooting training complete."
"Ding!"
......
With each training session, I felt myself growing stronger and more attuned to the moon's magic. I felt I had a good aptitude for this; my gaze and focus never wavered.
A dagger is also a good weapon, and I think I have a good talent for it, but for now, a bow suits me better.
“Morse never considered using a bow and arrow before, but it seems that this is where I have the greatest talent.” He thought to himself as he watched the fluid movements.
Although I haven't mastered any bow-related skills yet, the 'Weapon Master' class is already proving useful.
However, I couldn't underestimate myself. I should try shooting now. With that thought in mind, I left the training room and headed back to the reception area.
There, I saw Alice practicing with her bow. Sweat was streaming down her face.
'whoosh'
Just as I was passing by, suddenly, an arrow pierced through the dummy.
'bang'
Then came an explosion.
"Hmm... so she can use this skill now."
This is a skill called [Explosive Arrow]. It's a normal skill that infuses arrows with fire attributes.
As I passed by her, I walked over to the receptionist and picked up the gun.
This is a design similar to a Glock pistol. For most people, it's a basic weapon with low recoil and a high rate of fire.
Back in my room, I passed through the same ten doors and arrived at the private training ground.
How many goals do you hope to achieve?
"Eight."
Please select the training difficulty.
"Phase Two"
The moment the command was completed, eight moles appeared around me.
I raised my gun and aimed it at the monster, while simultaneously channeling my magic to enhance the bullets inside.
Now, there's no need to test weapon damage. After all, the Glock pistol's base damage is enough to kill the monsters in the first phase with a single shot.
But the situation was different in the second phase.
As someone who has played shooting games, I know the base damage of guns. It's enough to kill a monster in the first phase with one shot, but not enough to kill a monster in the second phase with one shot.
Feeling the cold, metallic texture in my hand, I concentrated my magic, infusing the bullets in the gun with [Moon], and swiftly fired at the charging mole.
'bang'
The monster moves as fast as before, but its movement pattern is different. However, my special ability gives me excellent vision when rapidly pressing the trigger.
'bang bang bang'
This gun has an extremely high rate of fire, allowing me to fire rapidly and continuously. Every bullet hits its target precisely, causing the moles to disappear one by one.
As it turned out, the moles were no match for the power of [Moon]. They fell one after another as I maintained a steady aim. The gun had very little recoil, was easy to control, and allowed for accurate shooting.
In just three seconds, the eight moles vanished, and the training room fell silent once more. I looked at the new record on the panel.
"Ding! Second phase of shooting training complete. New record: 3 seconds."
This is very different from using a bow and arrow. Guns fire at a very high speed.
"However, the difference lies in the magical power that a person can inject into a bullet."
People can infuse arrows made of special metals with a great deal of magic, or even conjure an arrow with pure magic, but guns cannot do that.
Or rather, this is something never seen before.
"It looks like I can now apply for additional weapons testing."
The academy does not allow students to blindly change weapons or learn different weapons. Each weapon change requires testing.
This is why the students could only use one simple weapon in the end.
