Chapter 18: A Dramatic Twist Occurs
Following the supervisor's words, the security guard snatched Chu Xinglan's small handbag, opened it, and dumped out all the contents.

As the sound of metal striking the table rang out, a gleaming gold necklace appeared on the table.
Everyone present was astonished.
Is she really a thief? She's pretty, but she seems to have a kind heart.
The others quickly checked their valuables, fearing that she might steal them too.
Seeing her gold necklace exposed, the woman exclaimed excitedly, "Look, look, she really took my gold necklace!"
Even after the gold necklace was found in Chu Xinglan's bag, Chu Xinglan remained calm and composed.
"I never imagined you were a thief. What do you have to say now?" the supervisor said angrily.
"Just because something was found in my bag, does that make me a thief?" Chu Xinglan sneered.
"We have witnesses and physical evidence, yet you, the thief, are still stubbornly denying it. It seems we have no choice but to call the police." The supervisor said angrily, and was about to pick up his phone to dial 110.
"Fine, then let the police come." Chu Xinglan remained fearless.
Those watching the spectacle stared at Chu Xinglan in disbelief, pointing and whispering about her.
"Are thieves these days so brazen? They're not even afraid of the police."
"He looks no more than twenty years old, how can he be so wicked?"
"She is quite good-looking, but it's a pity she's wasting such a good face."
Chu Xinglan wasn't afraid of the other party calling the police. In fact, it would be even better if the police came. She hadn't stolen the necklace, and she wanted to see how the police would help her solve the case.
Gu Ye is hopeless. Did he use all his subordinates' intelligence to pay taxes? If it weren't for finding the murderer who killed her, she wouldn't want to stay here.

"Thank you, supervisor!"
"Don't thank me, this is what you deserve, unlike some people who are all show and no substance." The manager said, giving Chu Xinglan a fierce glare.
"Manager, don't jump to conclusions. Just because the necklace was found in my bag doesn't mean I stole it." Chu Xinglan rolled her eyes. If it weren't for the fact that Gu Ye and she had been husband and wife for a few months in her previous life, she wouldn't bother with his company's affairs. A blind and clueless manager hiring a scheming woman—Gu Ye's company would be ruined by these parasites sooner or later.
"The facts are right in front of you, and you're still trying to argue? You should be grateful that they're not holding it against you, don't be ungrateful!" The steward's attitude towards Chu Xinglan became increasingly hostile.
"You're the manager here, don't you know how to check the surveillance footage? If the footage shows that I stole it, then I'll admit it. But if not, what should we do?" Chu Xinglan glanced at the woman and said with a faint smile.
Actually, she noticed the surveillance cameras in the waiting area as soon as she arrived, and her location happened to be within their range. She hadn't expected this to happen; it just so happened that her position was directly opposite the camera.
Surveillance? The woman panicked upon hearing this, then glanced at Chu Xinglan's location. There was a surveillance camera right in front of her, and her face instantly turned pale.
"I suddenly remembered that something has come up at home, so I can't apply for the job right now. Let's leave it for someone else," the woman said hurriedly, trying to leave.
It was a case of digging their own grave; there were too many people present, and they couldn't squeeze out in time, missing the best opportunity to escape.
"Why are you leaving all of a sudden?"
Another round of discussion erupted at the scene.
"She has to leave, otherwise she'll be too ashamed to face anyone later." Chu Xinglan smiled slightly at the woman. "It seems you can't leave now even if you want to."
"What happened? Why did she leave?"
"By the way, she panicked when she heard there were security cameras here. Could there be something fishy going on?"
People made various guesses.
"No, no, it's not that. Something really has happened at home, it's urgent!" The woman's voice grew softer and softer.
Her accomplices, in an effort to protect themselves, retreated to the background and distanced themselves from her.
"Oh, you had a family emergency and still came to apply for a job?" Chu Xinglan's smile made the woman even more flustered.
That brat must have found out something. It seems she's been outsmarted by her.
"I'm not even going to argue with you, why are you being so aggressive?" The woman was furious and was about to attack Chu Xinglan.
The supervisor reacted quickly this time, grabbing the woman's hand and successfully preventing her from harming Chu Xinglan.
"Explain yourself clearly. What exactly happened? Wasn't the necklace lost?"
"No, no, yes, yes..." The woman panicked and became incoherent.
“Of course it wasn’t lost; she personally put her necklace into my bag,” Chu Xinglan said.
"What? She framed him herself?"
The crowd erupted in an uproar.
"You're lying, I didn't!" the woman weakly protested.
"Then let the surveillance video speak for itself. We'll know exactly what happened once we pull it up."
Chu Xinglan launched a powerful counterattack.
The supervisor immediately instructed the security guards to retrieve the surveillance video.
The woman was so frightened by this that she collapsed to the ground.
Everyone instantly understood; they hadn't expected the truth to take such a turn, and so quickly at that.
"So we all misunderstood you!" The supervisor looked at Chu Xinglan with an apologetic expression.
Chu Xinglan just smiled. He wasn't the only one who had been deceived; everyone present had been fooled by this woman.
"Get out of here. We will never hire someone like you who resorts to scheming," the manager said viciously to the woman.
The woman, having been exposed, was too ashamed to stay any longer. She covered her face with her hands and slunk away.
With no more excitement to be seen, the crowd dispersed.
At this moment, Xue Bai walked through the lobby with the documents in his hand. Seeing a large number of people coming out in one direction, he stopped one of the receptionists and asked, "What's going on? What are so many people doing?"
