“Yes.” Night said as if recalling, “I once heard my father beast say that there were two naturally born females on the Beastman Continent, one from the towering mountains and the other from the rainforest. Various carnivores gathered, and the chase between hunter and prey began. However, Ye, Bai Shu, and Bai Ji clearly found it much more convenient. They didn't have to go far into the mountains to find prey; they could simply wait in the water or behind the bushes for the animals to come to drink before hunting.
Since Ye reached level seven, he could transform into a half-beast, half-human form. In his human upper body, he would hold Lin Ni, while his lower body, in a snake tail, would swim out into the mountains and forests. He would let Lin Ni choose the animal she wanted to eat, then his lower body would suddenly transform back into a snake tail, circle the animal she had chosen, and drag it back. One day, while Bai Shu and Bai Ji were hunting a cheetah, a crocodile suddenly emerged from the water and bit Bai Ji's hind leg. Bai Ji then engaged in a fierce battle with it. Lin Ni watched anxiously from inside the cave, tightly gripping Ye's hand: "Ye, you must go and save Bai Ji!"
Night put his arm around her shoulder and patted her gently: "This is something they have to go through."
The crocodile gripped Baiji's leg tightly, trying to drag it into the murky water. Baiji struggled desperately, turning back to bite it. Linni cried out, "But it will die! Please save it!"

Night pushed Lin Ni back, transforming into a giant python over twenty meters long, and suddenly shot out of the cave, letting out a low hiss.
The powerful aura startled the surrounding small animals, causing them to scatter in panic. The ferocious beasts on the shore, who were preparing to attack Baiji, retreated and assumed a defensive posture.
The long, serpentine body of the night snaked down onto the exposed lakebed, its tail whipping away the two gray wolves closest to Baiji. Then, it raised its massive head, flicking its tongue at the still-watching beasts. The beasts slowly retreated a few steps, then all turned and scattered.
Night used its snake tail to lift Baiji up and swim back to the cave. Baizhu hurriedly followed. If they hadn't followed Night, they wouldn't have dared to go into the water now, as no one knew what kind of ferocious beasts were lurking beneath the murky lake.
Once they entered the cave, Linni hurriedly went to the small pool inside the cave to fill a basin with clean water and went to wash Baiji's wounds.
The original water in the small pond had long since dried up. This water was collected from the large lake outside every night before they went to bed. After settling overnight, they had clean water to use the next day.
