Chapter 135: Half a Day of Illusion
Chapter 135: Half a Day of Illusion
When eight burly men dressed in black and wearing black sunglasses suddenly pushed the door open and entered, Aunt Mei was startled and couldn't help but scream.
Chu Xiaolu, having received interstellar special forces training from the Imperial Fleet, quickly scanned the area and noticed that all eight burly men had firearms at their waists.
Chu Xiaolu quickly stood up, pulled Aunt Mei up and pushed her behind her, and said to Aunt Mei without turning her head, "Aunt Mei, don't be afraid, and don't make a sound. I'll protect you. Just act according to the situation and press the alarm."
Aunt Meryl Streep had never experienced such a scene in person; she had only seen it in television and movies before. Fortunately, she was smart enough not to shout. She knew that shouting in this situation would only provoke the group more.
Chu Xiaolu took the opportunity to retreat, protecting Aunt Mei, and retreated to the wall inside the shop, leaning against it.
Eight men in black quickly surrounded Chu Xiaolu and Aunt Mei.
Who are you? What do you want?
A bald, burly man stepped forward, stretched out his right hand, and tried to touch Chu Xiaolu's face. "What do you think you're doing? Little girl, just come with us and you'll avoid getting hurt."
Chu Xiaolu suddenly raised her right foot and kicked fiercely at the burly man's knee. At the same time, she attacked with her right hand, grabbing the bald burly man's outstretched right hand and pulling it towards herself. Caught off guard, the bald burly man's right knee was shattered and his right wrist was dislocated with two sharp cries of "crack" and "ouch."
The other seven burly men were startled and quickly took a few steps back. Then they all drew their guns from their waists and pointed them at Chu Xiaolu and Aunt Mei.
Chu Xiaolu felt her clothes trembling. Aunt Mei was pulling on Chu Xiaolu's clothes, probably because she was shaking. "Girl...girl...they have guns, don't...resist..."
"Aunt Mei, calm down, don't be afraid, I'll protect you."
As soon as she finished speaking, Chu Xiaolu pushed the bald man away, then stretched out her left hand. Suddenly, a strong light shone out, forcing the eight strong men to cover their eyes. Then the light spread out, forming a rectangular "light curtain". This "light curtain" stretched vertically from the ground to a little above Chu Xiaolu's head, and horizontally was as wide as six people's bodies.
When the burly men opened their eyes again, they saw a rectangular "light screen" radiating golden light. Strangely, this "light screen" seemed to be semi-transparent. The burly men saw that Chu Xiaolu had her left hand outstretched and was holding a long "light sword" in her right hand.
Have we traveled to the future? The burly men rubbed their eyes, and two or three of them even bit their fingers. After confirming that they weren't dreaming or had traveled through time, the men exchanged glances.
A burly man picked up a "submachine gun" and fired rapidly and fiercely at the far left of the "light screen." A bunch of "bullets" whistled past as they left the barrel, and the sound of metal casings hitting the ground was clearly audible. Aunt Mei couldn't help but cover her ears with her hands.
Outside Aunt Mei's shop, the lights came on one by one, and it seemed that pedestrians were screaming and running on the street.
The bullets that came hurtling towards the screen seemed to be "fixed" by something just before they hit it. They seemed to be "embedded" for a moment before falling to the ground.
This was Chu Xiaolu's first real combat experience, and she had no expertise. She simply tried to activate the "shield" on her bracelet, holding the "lightsaber" in her right hand, but dared not advance. After all, if she were alone, she might have charged forward, but right now she had to take care of Aunt Mei, so she dared not risk an attack. Chu Xiaolu simply waited; the black-clad man's machine gun was firing so loudly that bystanders and passersby would surely call the police.
Then, Chu Xiaolu simultaneously heard intense machine gun fire from her left and right. The loud gunfire was unbearable for her, so she put away her "lightsaber" and covered her right ear with her right hand. Aunt Mei probably noticed Chu Xiaolu's actions and quickly tore off a small piece of her own clothing, rolled it into two small balls, and stuffed them into Chu Xiaolu's left and right ears respectively. Chu Xiaolu's right hand was freed again, and she brandished her "lightsaber" once more.
These burly men in black kept firing their machine guns from side to side, avoiding the center of the "light screen," presumably out of concern that they might harm Chu Xiaolu.
She didn't know how much time had passed, but the machine gun seemed to still be firing from side to side. Suddenly, Chu Xiaolu felt something prick her neck, and then the machine gun fire seemed to stop. However, the scene in front of Chu Xiaolu began to blur, and she had a bad feeling. She knew she had been hit by a tranquilizer dart. Turning her head to look back, she saw a small hole in the wall behind her.
Chu Xiaolu quickly pulled out the tranquilizer gun, put away the "light screen," removed the small strips of cloth from her ears, grabbed Aunt Mei with her left hand, and brandished the "light saber" with her right hand as she desperately charged towards the group of blurry figures in black.
Suddenly, Aunt Mei screamed and then fell silent. Chu Xiaolu shouted for Aunt Mei desperately. Before she became dizzy and fainted, she seemed to hear Aunt Mei making "mmm" sounds, which meant that something was stuffed into Aunt Mei's mouth.
"Is Aunt Mei alright?" Even as she was losing consciousness, Chu Xiaolu was still thinking of Aunt Mei. Then, her right-hand "lightsaber" fell to the ground, and she lurched forward, collapsing in a daze. In her dazed state, she seemed to hear the piercing sound of a police siren. And then, Chu Xiaolu knew nothing more.
Xiaolu, are you alright?
"Brother, is that you?"
"It's me, Xiaolu."
"I... how is Aunt Mei?"
"Aunt Mei is fine, don't worry."
"Where am I?"
"Darling, this is our home. Look out the window."
Chu Xiaolu slowly opened her eyes, then felt a blissful dizziness. Sure enough, it was Zhou Yuan, who was feeding her meat soup with a spoon. She was lying in bed, with bright sunshine and vibrant flowers outside the window, and she could hear birds chirping.
"Big brother, what's wrong with me?"
"Honey, you fell and had a concussion two weeks ago. The doctor did a full check-up and you were hospitalized for almost two weeks. Luckily, it wasn't anything serious. I was so worried. The doctor said you'd be fine after a month of rest at home. Today is your third day since you were discharged."
"Why can't I remember anything?"
"The doctor said that this is common with concussions."
"Big brother, is it really you?"
"Xiaolu, is it real? Touch my face." Zhou Yuan leaned closer to Chu Xiaolu. Chu Xiaolu tremblingly raised her right hand, her fingers gently tracing a circle on Zhou Yuan's face. This was indeed Zhou Yuan. In all of Chu Xiaolu's memories, she had imagined this scene, touching Zhou Yuan's face. That outline was unforgettable for Chu Xiaolu.
"Xiaolu, why are you crying?" Zhou Yuan gently wiped away the tears from Chu Xiaolu's eyes.
"Big brother, I like you so much. I always dream about touching your face. I'm so happy today."
"Xiaolu, from now on you can stroke my face every day, okay?"
"Mmm." Chu Xiaolu's face flushed again.
"Drink this nourishing soup, I'll feed you."
"it is good."
Zhou Yuan supported Chu Xiaolu's neck with his left hand, and with his right hand, he scooped up a spoonful of soup, blew on it a few times to warm it up, and then held it to Chu Xiaolu's lips. "Drink slowly, don't rush, be careful not to burn yourself."
Chu Xiaolu felt so happy, her heart was filled with sweetness. She slurped up the nourishing soup that Zhou Yuan had personally fed her, swallowed it down her throat, and then felt weak and drowsy. "Big brother, why do I have to sleep again?"
"Xiaolu, this is a tonic, it'll be good for you. You'll feel better after a good night's sleep."
"Okay." After saying that, Chu Xiaolu seemed to drift off to sleep again, a sweet smile on her lips.
Zhou Yuan stood up, abruptly tearing off his disguise, and whispered, "Sir, she's fallen asleep again."
A group of people quickly walked out of the next room. Among them were people in white coats and people in doctor and nurse uniforms. There was a short, lean man in the middle who stepped forward and looked at Chu Xiaolu.
"Is she okay?"
"My lord, after half a day of hypnosis and creating illusions, Chu Xiaolu seems to have a crush on a 'big brother' named Zhou Yuan. I've also extracted a lot of information about Earthlings from him, which has been recorded in the notebook you provided. However, my lord, I must remind you that frequent use of those hypnotic drugs can damage her internal organs."
"Well, we've gathered quite a bit of information in half a day. Since you say that the hypnotic drug is harmful to her, then we won't use it. Strangely enough, during our previous full physical examination, it seems that the humans on Earth didn't do anything to her; everything is exactly as it was."
"My lord, with such advanced technology as Earth, I doubt they would be interested in our technology, nor would they dissect Xiaolu for experiments."
"Okay. You can leave now. You must keep this a secret, or I will take your life. You will receive a large sum of money in three days."
"Thank you, sir." The hypnotist carefully placed the notebook on a medical table, then slowly turned and quietly walked out of the room.
The wiry, short man winked at a man in white, who then led three other men in white quietly toward the door.
"Monica, compile a summary of all of Chu Xiaolu's physical examination results and send it to me before 8 PM tonight. Also, you should know how to handle Chu Xiaolu when she wakes up, right?"
“Yes, sir, you can rest assured.” A woman who looked like a doctor wearing glasses bowed in response.
"Turusch, you know what to do next, right?"
"Father, please rest assured, I will follow the plan flawlessly." A handsome young man in white bowed and answered confidently.
"Tito, have all those items been prepared for storage?" the adult asked, turning to a man in white beside him.
"My lord, everything is ready, and we are just waiting for you to depart tomorrow morning."
"Okay, all of this must be kept a secret. Otherwise, our lives will be in danger."
"Yes, sir," the group replied tremblingly.
"Tito, is there anything else?"
"Sir, I would like to ask you, what should be done with that Aunt Mei?"
"Aunt Mei? Oh, let's keep her imprisoned for now. Don't mistreat or kill her. Treat her well; she might be useful in the future."
"Yes, my lord."
The short, stocky man smiled smugly, then quietly walked out of the room, followed by a group of men in white, leaving only the handsome young man and six or seven people who looked like doctors and nurses behind.
The room clock ticked slowly, and the bespectacled female doctor was working in front of the computer, presumably compiling Chu Xiaolu's full-body physical examination data.
The handsome young man glanced at his watch; it was almost 3:30 PM. She should be awake by now, right? This girl is quite pretty. The handsome young man smiled wryly.
"Big brother, big brother, don't leave me!" Suddenly, Chu Xiaolu kicked the blanket and screamed loudly.
The handsome young man, the female doctor, and other medical staff rushed forward to the bedside. A nurse held Chu Xiaolu's legs tightly, while the female doctor took out a small flashlight-like device to examine Chu Xiaolu's pupils.
"How is she?" the handsome young man asked.
“Young master, you don’t need to worry. She’s fine. She seemed to be having a dream just now, and it seems she was traumatized in the dream. I’ll prescribe some medicine for her, and she should wake up in about an hour.”
"it is good."
The female doctor wrote a prescription and handed it to a nurse, who left immediately and returned with the medicine shortly afterward.
The female doctor crushed the medicine, stirring it in a mortar many times until it became powder. She then dissolved it in warm water, and a nurse picked up the bowl and fed it to the dazed Chu Xiaolu.
