Chapter 571 - 572 Immortal Emperor Realm [3/15]
Chapter 571 - 572 Immortal Emperor Realm [3/15]
Immortal Emperor Realm, Sword Listening City.
Today was the annual Ceremony of Veneration. All the people of the city, whether from their homes or taverns, had to come out and kneel on the streets. The object of their veneration was, of course, a sword.
Above the square towered a colossal sword, a hundred meters in length, striking awe into all who saw it.
This sword was none other than the Skyless Sword.
But why did they worship it? Because the original form of the Divine Sword Great Emperor was such a sword.
In the current Immortal Emperor Realm, talent emerged in droves. But in this Lower Realm—this Earth Realm—it was the Divine Sword Great Emperor who was revered above all. Eight thousand years ago, the Divine Sword Great Emperor had burst onto the scene, intimidating the ferocious beasts and driving them away from this land so that the Human Clan could finally begin to recuperate and restore peace.
"The sacrificial ceremony begins! All beings shall worship the sword!" In Sword Listening City, aside from the City Lord’s forces, the most powerful faction was the Heavenly Sword Sect. At this moment, a Heavenly Sword Sect disciple was presiding over the ceremony. At his command, all were to prostrate themselves.
This disciple, Zhong Qing, was quite pleased with the kneeling multitude. It was as if they were not bowing to the sword-like structure but to him, granting him a false sense of satisfaction.
Suddenly, Zhong Qing noticed a man, a woman, and a small child who were simply standing there quietly, without kneeling.
"Kneel down at once!" Zhong Qing bellowed angrily.
But the family paid him no heed. The man’s gaze, in particular, lingered nostalgically on the sword-like structure before him. That was the very sword he had once wielded. This man was Wu Tian. He never expected that his sword would have taken on a human form and become so famous in this realm. That sword, in fact, was originally just a block of iron. It was Wu Tian who had personally forged it. Afterward, steeped in the blood of countless battles while in his hands, it had gradually grown into a Divine Sword.
Gazing at the silhouette of the colossal sword, Wu Tian sighed with emotion.
"It seems he’s telling us to kneel," Qin Yuhan said to Wu Tian, her breath fragrant.
Wu Tian chuckled. "There’s no need."
Qin Yuhan nodded.
The little girl looked back and forth between the sword structure and Wu Tian. Her intuition told her there was a profound connection between the two.
"You still won’t kneel? Were your ancestors not saved by the Divine Sword Great Emperor? Are you that ungrateful?" Zhong Qing strode toward Wu Tian’s family, his face contorted with rage. "Speak! Will you kneel or not?" The fact that someone would dare defy the Divine Sword’s image infuriated him; it was as if they were disrespecting him personally.
"Moron?" Looking at Zhong Qing, Wu Tian smiled faintly and uttered the single word.
It sent Zhong Qing into a fury. "What did you say? How dare you speak to me that way?"
"Aren’t you a moron? Listening to your tone, you’d think you were the sword itself," Wu Tian continued to mock.
"Die!"
Feeling as if his hollow satisfaction had been pierced through, Zhong Qing’s eyes swirled with killing intent. His true nature revealed, he moved like lightning, rushing to strike Wu Tian down. This was a Profound Level Martial Arts Technique. To the common person, Martial Arts Techniques were graded simply as Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow. Wu Tian knew it wasn’t so simple, but that was the common belief in this realm. The fist technique employed by Zhong Qing was the Mix Mountain Fist.
His punch generated a fierce wind, and his momentum was immense. It carried the ferocity of a tiger and the swiftness of a rabbit.
"What a garbage fist technique. Utterly worthless." Seeing this, Wu Tian sneered and retaliated with a direct kick.
Although Wu Tian’s kick used no so-called Martial Arts Technique, his eyes had long since identified the weaknesses in the Mix Mountain Fist. As a result, the kick came as a complete surprise to Zhong Qing. With an astonished expression, he was struck squarely by the blow and staggered back, spitting blood.
How can this be? Zhong Qing’s eyes filled with disbelief. He had lived in Sword Listening City for countless years, and while he couldn’t claim to know every citizen, he made a point of remembering any notable figures. This man, Wu Tian, was not among them.
"You... you’d better take me to the Pharmacist Guild! Save me! If I die... the Heavenly Sword Sect... will not let you off!" Zhong Qing threatened, glaring venomously at Wu Tian. He felt death approaching. The Pharmacist Guild was quite far, and only someone with Wu Tian’s martial prowess could get him there in time.
"You really are a moron." Seeing this, Wu Tian shook his head.
Is that how you ask for help? Wu Tian wondered. Besides, he’d never even heard of this Heavenly Sword Sect.
"You... you... you dare to disregard my Heavenly Sword Sect, you..." Zhong Qing was so incensed that he coughed up another mouthful of blood. He likely wouldn’t have died from the kick alone, but now, he had actually managed to anger himself to death.
The surrounding commoners were completely stunned. The commotion soon attracted other Heavenly Sword Sect disciples who had been monitoring the kneeling crowd. They gathered around, and after learning what had transpired, they all stared at Wu Tian in disbelief.
"Here in Sword Listening City, besides the City Lord’s Mansion, someone dares to kill a disciple of our Heavenly Sword Sect?"
"He’s just asking to die."
"If we don’t apprehend this person, what will become of our Heavenly Sword Sect’s reputation?"
The disciples exchanged glances and murmured amongst themselves, ultimately declaring Wu Tian guilty.
"Hey! Are you guys even reasonable? That person coughed up blood and died all by himself!" the little girl cried out unhappily, her voice high-pitched.
How could the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples admit such a thing? A disciple of the prestigious Heavenly Sword Sect dying from anger would be a humiliating joke that would damage the sect’s reputation.
"Nonsense!" one disciple shouted. "Every disciple of our Heavenly Sword Sect has a firm will! How could one of us simply be angered to death?"
"You must have used some despicable trick that caused our Brother Zhong Qing to be ambushed and killed!" another added.
Hearing them, Wu Tian couldn’t help but laugh. It was a perfect example of twisting the truth. He didn’t realize, however, that his smile only infuriated the disciples more. They felt humiliated, certain that he was looking down on their Heavenly Sword Sect.
"Scoundrel!"
"A heretic like this is definitely not of the Human Clan!"
"That’s right! Everyone, this person must be from the Beast Clan or something similar! Take him down!"
"Alright!"
The Heavenly Sword Sect disciples all drew their swords and imbued them with Spiritual Power. Instantly, sword gleams shot forth, slashing directly at Wu Tian. Countless rays of sword light came at him in a dense volley.
"Heh."
Wu Tian stood with his hands behind his back, allowing the rays of sword light to slash at his body.
CLANG!
He was completely unharmed, as if the rays of sword light had no sharpness at all.
"Impossible!"
"My sword can split a small hill!"
"I don’t believe it!"
They gritted their teeth and continued to strike. The sword gleams cut through the air, slashing across the sky with a power that seemed invincible to the naked eye. But what of it? When they struck Wu Tian, they were still utterly useless.
"I told you your Martial Arts Techniques were pathetic," Wu Tian said, knowing it was his turn to act.
