Chapter 465 - 465: First Earthly Calamity: Part Four
Chapter 465 - 465: First Earthly Calamity: Part Four
Fang Yuan observed the effects of his mortal killer move with great satisfaction. It had cost him a great deal: over one hundred Rank 5 Ambition Gu had been consumed simply to use the move once. A single bead of Grape Gree Immortal essence allowed Rank 6 Ambition Gu to generate ten Rank 5 Ambition Gu.The other Gu worms involved in the killer move were mostly of the Human Path as well, but easier to obtain - at least, they were for him. They included Relic Gu from nearly every single rank. Even ordinary Gu Immortals would find themselves strained to use this move.
For that matter, even Fang Yuan, with his massive resources and an aperture that stretched across three continents and was nearly on the cusp of being a Grotto-Heaven rather than just a Blessed Land, felt the ache of the amount of money he had spent in a single blow quite dearly.
With that said, not all of it could be considered a loss, Fang Yuan thought. His aperture generated enough Grape Green Immortal Essence that he would have enough to use this move every single time he faced one of his earthly calamities. Not to mention, not all of it was "a waste." Whenever he used Rank 6 Ambition Gu, it generated Rank 5 Ambition Gu as well lower ranked ones he could sell for Immortal Essence Stones.
Even so, its enormous cost and use of numerous gu worms that were disposable meant that Fang Yuan would not be able to use it for a second time - certainly not during this earthly calamity.
With that said, Fang Yuan considered, watching the tribulation clouds before him shift and merge, perhaps it was a bit too fantastical to call it Ambition Triumphing Over Heaven. 'It is only a Rank 5 mortal killer move, though. Heh. Perhaps once I make it Rank 6, then it will be worthy of the name!'
He also had to keep a keen eye out. The tribulation was not over. His mortal killer move had simply greatly weakened it and separated it into smaller, more manageable portions, but that did not mean that it was finished.
Already, his earthly calamity was far stronger than it would normally have been, simply from the size of his aperture. It was probably closer in terms of strength to a heavenly tribulation, or even a grand tribulation, than to an ordinary earthly calamity.
Ambition Triumphing Over Heaven had separated the tribulation clouds, but they were not equal. Some were of greater size than the others. The largest one immediately turned towards the great Integration Formation above the three continents.
Fang Yuan understood what Heaven's Will was doing. It was trying to destroy his foundation. Without a doubt, getting rid of that integration formation would greatly hamper his research. He would not have been able to develop Ambition Triumphing Over Heaven as a killer move if he had not advanced in his Human Path, largely made possible only because of the Truthful Floating Ice.
This, however, turned out to be the wrong decision, as Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable had anticipated such a thing happening. The tribulation directly struck the formation, yet not a single scratch reached it. The bulk of the remaining earthly calamity was wasted in this blow.
The remaining tribulation clouds murmured and gurgled like rain-laden thunderclouds ready to burst down upon the ground. Heaven's Will was furious. But there was a limit, a rule, to how harshly it could treat Fang Yuan. A limit that had been further lowered by his Human Path killer move.
Another one of the clouds began taking the shape of a bird until it materialized into a massive pelican, which let out a long, loud cry that could easily shatter not just glass but also wooden and stone buildings as well.
The desolate beast Sonic Pelican had descended!
Fang Yuan had not been expecting a Sound Path calamity like this, but at the end of the day, this was just another desolate beast.
Feeling Homesick would not work on it like it had with the Steam Spouting Yak, given the fact that its "home" was within his aperture. Also, from his understanding of Heaven's Will, it was not possible to completely cleanse a beast that was generated from a tribulation of its influence, at least not using ordinary measures. If there were things that could do so, he did not have access to them.
The Sonic Pelican glanced down at the three continents before its eyes locked upon Fang Yuan. Heaven's Will urged it to move forward and strike at Fang Yuan as quickly as possible.
Before it could flap more than half a li, however, a bright crimson red chariot crashed right into it, nearly tearing off one of its wings. One of Fang Yuan's Wills was driving the Blood Chariot. Fang Yuan would have preferred not to have to use it. However, right now he was within his aperture, he assumed that whatever detection methods the Heavenly Court had they could not reach inside here.
The Sonic Pelican cried out in agony, blood spurting from it and landing atop the ocean between the three continents with every beat of its wings. The roof of the chariot vibrated slightly from the impact that the sound waves caused; several parts of it broke off, but it still maintained the majority of its structural integrity as it rammed right into the pelican once more, this time slicing across its soft belly. Defensive gu worms atop its body activated in vain to try and block the Blood Chariot but it was futile - it carried the offensive power of a Rank 6 Gu Worm, after all. And it didn't seem that the Sonic Pelican had a single Immortal Gu on it, which was good for him.
The pelican glared at Fang Yuan with hatred, but there was nothing more that it could do as it fell down towards the sea, helpless. The waters turned red with its blood as fish emerged to gorge on its remains.
Fang Yuan, however, did not celebrate. He glanced towards the remaining tribulation cloud. It turned from wispy dark vapor into something resembling an actual rain cloud before taking on a dark yellow-golden color. Once it had firmly materialized into this form, small droplets of molten gold began forming in it and started descending over the Fang Yuan Continent.
The people on the three continents had mostly been unaware of the Earthly Calamity going on for now. Fang Yuan's attack had dealt with most of it, and the Integration Formation had absorbed much of the blow. However, now the people on the Fang Yuan Continent noticed the massive, dusky yellow cloud.
And then, droplets began falling down. The drops of molten gold cooled down slightly as they passed through the air, with most of them being semi-solid by the time they hit the ground. With their speed and weight alone, they could easily puncture through someone's skin. The larger droplets remained in their liquid form even as they came near the ground, sizzling through the air.
This was the tribulation - Golden Shower! A Metal Path tribulation!
Showering someone with gold or with money on Earth would probably be seen as something desirable. But this calamity was dropping large molten droplets of gold upon the continent. These droplets of gold would destroy the vegetation, and if they landed upon any human skin, they would end up burning through it. For that matter, they would end up burning through the roofs of most structures as well if the solid pieces of gold didn't.
"It's hailing!"
"No, it's worse!"
"Find shelter!"
People scrambled to get away as quickly as possible.
There was very little that Fang Yuan had that could counter this. However, broadly speaking, this was a relatively benign calamity, especially given the size of the Fang Yuan Continent. The cloud moved over the continent with many people screaming and trying to get out of its way. However, eventually, it petered out and the gold stopped raining down.
