Chapter 170 The Real and Fake Regent 2
Chapter 170 The Real and Fake Regent 2
Meanwhile, inside the main hall of the Marquis of Yongyi's residence, the steward knelt trembling with fear.
The Marquis was so angry that he smashed everything in the hall to pieces, but that did not quell his rage.
"Su Yinyin is a scourge. If I had known back then, I would have killed her too, and she wouldn't have brought this much trouble to the Marquis's mansion!"
Su Jianguo chimed in, adding fuel to the fire, "Yes, Father, you should have listened to Mother. You insisted that the Duke's Mansion and the Marquis's Mansion were one entity. After that wretched woman died, did that Duke ever help you in your career?"
"What's the use of saying such sarcastic things now? Our Marquis's reputation is ruined." The Marquis was now filled with regret.
I regret my past mercy. Killing one is a sin. Killing two is also a sin; I should have killed them all.
"Father, what should we do now? We can't even make things difficult for her today, let alone kill her."
"No rush, that bitch won't be smug for long. The plan has already begun, and no matter how powerful she becomes, she can't outmaneuver that person." The Marquis looked up in the direction they had gone, his face softening.
"What if Su Yinyin brings people to the Marquis's mansion tomorrow to settle scores with Father?" Su Jianguo trembled involuntarily as he thought of the whip in Su Yinyin's hand.
"So be it! Hmph, even if she's a princess, she wouldn't dare lay a hand on her own father in broad daylight. Steward, arrange for men to guard the gate. If anyone visits tomorrow, tell them I'm not in the manor."
The butler received the order and left immediately to arrange for help.
Lord Hou and Su Jianguo returned to their respective rooms and fell asleep peacefully.
At the Su residence, Su Yinyin sat in the living room chatting with the old lady. The old lady was thoroughly enjoying her time at the villa.
Every day I tend to the flowers, prune them, and grow some vegetables. Back in the villa, I drink tea and make some snacks.
The microwave, oven, and air fryer made cakes that were absolutely delicious. The old lady learned many different cake recipes from Su Yin.
When Su Yinyin wasn't around, the old lady would cook different dishes for Bao Bao and Xiao Xiao every day.
The old lady is living a fulfilling life at the villa. Her health is improving, her gray hair is decreasing, and she is becoming younger and younger.
"Yinyin, your grandmother is always staying here. Don't you find it troublesome?" the old lady asked cautiously. She really loved this place and didn't want to go back to the Duke's mansion. But she was also afraid of causing them trouble!
“Grandmother, you can stay as long as you want, we won’t mind.” Su Yinyin said, then looked at Su Yue and Su Nian’an.
The two immediately responded, trying to appease the old lady. The old lady's loud laughter echoed from inside the villa.
At 9 PM, Su Yinyin changed into thermal underwear and put on her coat. She went to the balcony inside the room, and Lao Yi immediately appeared beside her.
With one arm around Su Yinyin's shoulder, they arrived inside the palace and headed straight for the residence of the Imperial Noble Consort.
As the two stepped into the palace gates, Su Yinyin, who had spotted the hidden guards, gave them a signal, and the old man silently dealt with them.
The two continued walking into the inner room, where the Imperial Noble Consort was lying on her side on the bed, seemingly asleep.
Su Yinyin approached the bedside and softly called out, "Your Highness, the Imperial Noble Consort." The Imperial Noble Consort slowly opened her eyes, and a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes when she saw that it was Su Yinyin.
"Why are you here so late at night?" The Empress Dowager sat up.
Su Yinyin spoke frankly: "This princess would like to ask the Dowager Consort about the Regent. Among the people I saw today, there was one who looked very much like him. I wonder if the Dowager Consort knows anything about him?"
Upon hearing this, the Empress Dowager remained calm and composed, saying directly, "I have no idea what you are talking about."
Su Yinyin knew in her heart that the Empress Dowager must know the inside story, but she was unwilling to reveal it.
Su Yinyin didn't hold back either; as soon as she inserted the silver needles, the Imperial Noble Consort fainted on the bed.
"Be careful," Su Yinyin called softly.
The old man at the door heard Su Yinyin call him. He gently opened the door and walked in. "Miss! I've discovered that those guards are not the same group as before. And the aura of these guards is similar to that of the Regent's Palace!"
Su Yinyin frowned. "This is getting more and more interesting! It seems the matter behind this is far more complicated than we imagined. Zhou Yuan has even extended his reach to the Dowager Consort. Jin, do you think they are mother and son?"
The old man nodded. "Miss, I've investigated, and they are indeed mother and son. We shouldn't stay here any longer. Shall we go back and make further plans?" Su Yinyin glanced at the unconscious Consort Tai, then turned and left the palace with the old man.
Upon learning that someone had secretly entered the Empress Dowager's palace at night and that the Empress Dowager was unharmed, Zhou Yuan sneered, "It seems that today's visit was not with my mother's accomplices."
Not long after Su Yinyin and Lao Yi left the Imperial Noble Consort's residence openly, they quietly returned.
"Miss, there's a secret room here." The old man searched the room carefully and found a mechanism on the Dowager Consort's dressing table.
They pressed the mechanism. The door to the secret room opened. Su Yinyin and Lao Yi stepped into the secret room, which was filled with an old, musty smell.
Some ancient portraits hang on the wall, the faces of the figures in the paintings are blurry.
In the corner of the dark room, there was an exquisite box. Su Yinyin stepped forward and opened it; inside was a letter.
The letter mentioned a mysterious power that seemed to be related to Zhou Yuan's secrets and also hinted at a shocking conspiracy within the royal family.
Just as Su Yinyin was reading the letter, a painful panting sound came from a dark room.
Su Yinyin tucked the letter into her bosom. The two exchanged a glance, took out flashlights, and slowly walked towards the direction from which the sound came.
When the light shone on him, the man looked exactly like the Regent.
He was chained to a pillar, his body covered in wounds. When he saw Su Yinyin and the other person, a look of wariness appeared in his eyes.
Su Yinyin asked, "Who are you? Why do you look just like Zhou Yuan?"
The man sneered, "I am the real Zhou Yuan, and I was tricked and trapped here by that imposter."
Su Yinyin frowned in thought, while the old man looked around at the surrounding environment.
Su Yinyin composed herself and said to Jin, "It seems that the person behind this is quite powerful, even able to impersonate the Regent."
He replied respectfully, "Miss, we need to make plans as soon as possible."
Su Yinyin pondered for a moment, "The first thing we need to do is find out where the real regent is; that might be the only way to break this deadlock."
Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside, and the old man whispered, "Miss, someone is coming."
Su Yinyin quickly made a decision: "Untie his chains and take him with you."
The eldest brother deftly unlocked the chains, and the three of them quietly left through another passage in the secret room.
