Chapter 221 Memories (2)
Chapter 221 Memories (2)
Jiang Yi hid backstage, peeking out to watch her grandfather and the others chatting happily in the audience. The wrinkles on her face never relaxed.
"Can you go?"
Chi Ruiche carefully tidied up her headdress and costumes, and even folded her clean clothes separately and put them in her bag.
“Okay, I’d like to go eat that burger from last time first.” Jiang Yi had a sudden inspiration; the burger she’d taken a bite of last time was quite delicious.
"Row."
Jiang Yi munched on a hamburger, talking non-stop, his face and hands covered in hamburger sauce.
Chi Ruiche's eyes were focused and gentle as he carefully wiped her with a wet wipe, his movements so meticulous. He softly reminded her, "Eat slowly, or your stomach will feel uncomfortable."
"Che, you're so thoughtful, how am I supposed to live? My brother even said I'd be crippled without you." Jiang Yi enjoyed Chi Ruiche's care.
"Then I will take care of you forever."
Chi Ruiche felt as if he saw the whole world in her hands, and he had an urge to hold on tightly. "I'll wait until you grow up."
"I don't want to grow up, I'm going to stick with you."
Jiang Yi proudly puffed out his chest and put a French fry to Chi Ruiche's mouth, looking like a fox who had just eaten a roast chicken.
Chi Ruiche raised an eyebrow and smiled, slowly eating his fries. When she wasn't looking, the corners of his mouth curved deeper and deeper, and he seriously ate another fries.
"I'm going to get something, wait for me."
Jiang Yi handed her phone to Chi Ruiche for safekeeping, saying, "Keep an eye on it for me when it runs out of battery. Answer the call when you see my dad; he said he's coming to pick me up to go to the hotel."
"Didn't Uncle Jiang come this year?" Chi Ruiche asked in a very low voice.
"Yes, she said she had a project to inspect and couldn't leave, so my mom left in a hurry after I finished."
Jiang Yi shrugged, looking as if he was used to it.
Chi Ruiche was still worried. "I'll go get it. You wait here for me."
"it is good."
Chi Ruiche left quickly. Jiang Yi yawned boredly, fiddled with his hamburger a couple of times, tasted two fries, and then lost interest, resting his chin on his hand and gazing out the window.
"There's a fire! The burger joint up ahead is leaking gas, there's so much smoke."
"Who did you listen to?"
"Xiao Cai just messaged me, saying that someone was burned."
The two girls, arms linked, made a surprised sound that reached Chi Ruiche's ears.
Chi Ruiche ran over, and the fire and rescue team set up a cordon at the door. Thick smoke billowed out of the store, and the air was filled with the smell of burning.
Fine beads of sweat silently seeped from his forehead and slid down his cheeks. "Is there anyone still inside?"
"Rescue workers have entered the scene. Please leave in an orderly manner."
"Did you see a short-haired boy wearing a white suit? He's very handsome."
Chi Ruiche nervously pointed inside, speaking and gesturing incoherently.
"Captain, all the wounded have been rescued."
The firefighter, wearing an orange fire suit, removed his mask and reported, "The fire has been extinguished."
"Thanks for your hard work."
"Hello, have you seen a boy? Is he injured? He's sitting in the second row by the window."
"The injured have been put on an ambulance and will be taken to the First People's Hospital." The firefighter, panting heavily, patiently answered Chi Ruiche's questions.
“Che”.
At that moment, time seemed to freeze. Chi Ruiche turned around, and Jiang Yi ran towards him from the crowd. Chi Ruiche hugged her tightly and pressed her head against his chest.
"Why didn't you answer my call? I thought you were inside."
Jiang Yi sobbed, feeling wronged, "I was so scared, I thought you were inside."
"Where did you go?"
“I had just seen my dad when I ran out to chase after him, but I couldn’t stop him. I was worried that you would come back and not see me and get anxious. Who knew that the fire would happen?”
Jiang Yi blinked her long eyelashes, tears welling up in her eyes. She then wiped them away with Chi Ruiche's clothes without hesitation, pursing her lips and trying her best to hold back her tears.
"As long as you're okay."
Chi Ruiche ruffled her hair, his lips trembling slightly as he concealed his inner secret, "I saw the cake you like, so I went to buy one. It took a little while."
"What about the cake?"
"here."
Chi Ruiche held the packaging box high, and perhaps because he ran too fast, the box was deformed from the pressure. "I'll go buy another one."
"I'm going to eat this."
That day, the two sat on a bench by the roadside, bathed in the afterglow of the setting sun, with a cake of indistinct shape in the middle.
Jiang Yi ate happily, her eyes crinkling. Chi Ruiche stared at her, his smile growing wider, gentle and beautiful.
